Owls Head Light’s Winter Splendor
Below are views of Owls Head Lighthouse in the wake of the great “Blizzard of 2010” on December 26-27.
A new blanket of snow covered the Maine coast, and though the sun was shining bright after the storm’s departure, winds continued to gust around to 35-knots, lifting snow about the air in fitful fashion and sending daytime wind chills plummeting to single digits.
In the process, the conditions created a scene of wintertime splendor to behold around lighthouses like Owls Head, even if warm thoughts of lingering in the shadow of the tower were quickly carried away on the shoulders of a frosty wind.

Wow! You two should consider producing a calendar. You’ve got the pictures here for December, January, and February! If you have any images showing icicles or iced-up lighthouses, let me know. I am planning an article for a magazine next year. (It would be nice to have pictures from places other than the icy Great Lakes!)

Beautiful pictures! I am a lover of Lighthouses and I think all of our Lighthouses are beautiful no matter what time of year. Keep up the great work.

What beautiful pictures.

Love these (as well as the ones of Marshall Point & Pemaquid) and wish I lived closer to this snow-laden area. Especially enjoy the frozen berry delight, tradition of family and Holiday flavor, Ann-Marie. Thank you both for sharing your wonderful journey.

Hi Bob and Ann,
No beauty escapes your camera or your mind. How wonderful to capture the day, the slant of the sun, the purity of the scene.
Many thanks

Besides having a talent for seeing a beautiful picture, you also have a talent for apropriately (and cleverly) labeling the scene!
