Pemaquid Point Light’s Winter Splendor
Below are views of Pemaquid Point Lighthouse in the wake of the great “Blizzard of 2010” on December 26-27.
A new blanket of snow covered the Maine coast, and though the sun was shining bright after the storm’s departure, winds continued to gust around to 35-knots, lifting snow about the air in fitful fashion and sending daytime wind chills plummeting to single digits.
In the process, the conditions created a scene of wintertime splendor to behold around lighthouses like Pemaquid Point, even if warm thoughts of lingering in the shadow of the tower were quickly carried away on the shoulders of a frosty wind.

Just beautiful. Love your pictures. My Husband is a former Lighthouse keeper from WoodIsland, Maine. We were married there August 12,2007.

I echo Kim’s words (above)!
Even though this is probably (in my opinion) the most photogenic light on the coast, you and Ann-Marie (along with mother nature!) have made it even more beautiful. The red of the oil house is brilliant against the snow!

Bob & Ann Another beautiful set of winter pictures of the lighthouse and surroundings! The others were equally as eye catching!
Winter provides us with a very different outlook of nature. It looks less active but pure, quiet and peaceful!
Keep up the good work I think you could make enlarger prints and people would buy them.

This is one of my very favorite lighthouses and these are really fantastic photos. Thanks for sharing them.

Even though it’s hard to take a bad picture at Pemaquid, these are still very beautiful and awesome pictures of the site. My favorite has to be the “iced under” reflective pool, as I’ve never seen it iced over before. Thanks for braving the cold for these lovely shots, and for the great titles of each and every one…so clever and so right on!
