The Dawn
Waking to greet the dawn
On the rocky coast you were set upon
Splashed with the brilliance of the sun
Watching the harbor awake, for day has begun
Glimmering brine dances beneath
While flowing through gray granite teeth
Trees sway with a gentle breeze
Refreshing all those upon whom it breathes
And as I stood with you alone
Your splendor once again began to be shone
And I heard the sound of surf from your high perch
To find a sound so beautiful I have searched
But alas, wonder such as this I could not find
And so it was to you I returned in kind
And as the sun warmly kissed my face
It’s comfort I did embrace
Even as the cool of the morning did surround
It was with golden light that we were crowned
It’s to this feeling that I just want to hang on
Watching your light shine into the dawn
I just can’t shake it
Nor can I escape it
And as you glow in the morning sun
No one can I compare to your beauty, for there is none
So let me stay here with you
In the midst of the morning dew
During the time of my delight
At the dawn with this guiding light
