Through the Rain
The first downpour from the remnants of Tropical Storm Philippe had just commenced as I climbed the stairs of Owls Head Lighthouse. The reprieve from the torrential rain was a welcome one, and so was the warmth that greeted me as I ascended the ladder into the lantern room. With the lighthouse’s 4th order Fresnel lens gleaming into the rapidly dimming atmosphere, my interest was immediately piqued by the patterned streaks created as the numerous drops of rain swiftly rolled down the glass panes. In each pane of glass the Fresnel lens reflected as beautifully as it always does, but it seemed all the more stunning with the rain soaked windows on this stormy evening.
